Computers in Everyday Life
Years ago when computers were beginning to enter our lives, I resisted with everything I had. Business records were put in software programs, hand written letters were being replaced by email, and I was certain chaos would result. Here we are now…and I cannot imagine life without my computer.
The computer helps us communicate on a global basis. They connect us all. I use my computer daily in my home office. I use it XXXX offline and online. I help others learn how to use it. When a friend states they do not have a computer, my response is…”I cannot imagine life without my computer.”
Offline, of course, I use Word for XXXXXXXXation purposes – writing, storing, and editing XXXXXXXXs. I can also play offline games, record music, use various software programs, and upkeep my computer. There is a lot I can do offline – these only mention a few. They are all the more reason I cannot image life without my computer.
The first time I became acquainted with the computer and internet was in a college auditing class. Part of my final exam requirement was doing online research in preparation of my term paper. I griped and moaned and thought it was so stupid. After all, all I had to do was go to the library, read and take notes, and just write the damn paper manually. After trying to convince my professor of this, I was unsuccessful. I needed a computer with internet access. This was the beginning of my journey into realizing that I cannot imagine life without my computer. I have never looked back.
As far as earning income: I apply for jobs, receive job offers, perform jobs, and receive payment – all without ever having met my employer. This is the joy of using my computer. Work. A current trend is the fact that more and more employers are turning to telecommuting. They realize it is a great way to decrease costs and increase productivity.
That is but another reason I cannot imagine life without my computer.
