Tomorrow journalist’s seminar

In the seminar which held in Yemen , in Burj al-Salam under the custody of the British Council , there was a lot of things that we did during the seminar . In the first day , there was an introduction for the participants and training from Britain, Yemen , UAE, Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait . Then we moved to talk about some planet’s big problems , and we planed for some field studies in Yemen . At the end of the day , we visited old Sana’a by walking in its narrow and beautiful streets , meeting humble Yemenis , watching the wonderful designs of buildings and seeing people eating something so popular their which is called Qat .
In the second day , we knew what is the meaning pf environmental journalism , what are the qualifications that environmental reporters require to write environmental reports , we discussed some of the local and regional case studies such as climate change , the ozone layer , melting glaciers , other species and water , and we made field visits to know and understand what is the environmental issues there . And finally, there was an reception at the Director’s residence . During that time , The Minister of Water and Environment Eng. Abdul Rahman Fadhl Al-Eryani visited us and he was happy and surprised that there is many students from the gulf countries concern about environmental issues especially in Yemen . Also the emeriti participants presented a special gift for the Director .
In the third day , we got to know about journalism , we met some environmental experts as Khawla Almahndi and Salem Alrowahi during the press conference and we moved to write stories about the field visits that we did in the 2nd day .
In the forth day , everyone read his/her story , then the experts and journalists gave some comments about what we wrote and they taught us what is the right way to write a story , how to deal with words , what is the 21 most useful things to remember when you write and 12 top tips for good journalism . then , The Minister of Water and Environment Eng. Abdul Rahman Fadhl Al-Eryani visited us and he talked about one of the most important environmental issues in Yemen which Water Cries that is caused by the plantation of Qat . At the End, the Bahraini participants distributed some cups which we can use them instead of plastic cups which aren’t environmental friendly . Also the emeriti participants presented gifts for the officers from the British Council to organize something so important and useful like that seminar . Finally The Minister of Water and Environment Eng. Abdul Rahman Al-Eryani distributed certificates for all the participants .
In the last day , we visited the Military Museum and Dar Al – Hajar .
In my opinion , it was an useful and amazing seminar . We learnt many useful things in writing , dealing with words and letting the readers enjoy our reports . Also we knew about many important environmental issues around the world and how to be a good journalist . Moreover we enjoyed our staying in Burj al Salam and old Sana’a .
At the end , I wish that an important seminar like this be more global to let the students around the world aware of the importance of Environmental Journalism .
